The Owner
Producer, Engineer, Singer, Songwriter and Multi Instrumentalist
Pete started his career at the age of twelve, recording local bands on his Dad’s 8-track Neve set-up. At sixteen he began his apprenticeship in London at Powerplant Studios. There, under the guidance of producers such as Robin Millar, Mike Hedges, Chris Tsangarides, Mick Glossop and Alan Shacklock, he assisted on recordings by JoBoxers, The Specials, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Paul Hardcastle (19), Marc Almond, The Smiths, Everything but the Girl, Diamond Head and many others. Alongside technical training from engineers such as Mike Pela and Colin Fairley, Pete became one of the youngest house engineers in London at the age of nineteen.
Some of his engineering credits, to name but a few, include Sade (“Diamond Life” / “Smooth Operator”), Swing Out Sister (“Breakout”), Jerry Dammers (The Specials) on the soundtrack for the film Absolute Beginners, Yellow (“The Race”), Black (“Wonderful Life”), Nick Lowe, Dusty Springfield, Edwin Starr, Status Quo and George Harrison.
With experience spanning rock to orchestral work, Pete moved into full production - working with The Mighty Lemon Drops, The Soup Dragons, The Violet Hour, Joe Brown and multi-platinum-selling Sam Brown (“Stop”, “April Moon”, “43 Minutes”, “Box” and “Re Root”). Between Sam Brown albums he toured with the band on guitar and backing vocals. That led to backing vocals with Deep Purple, David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd), Dodgy, Anathema, Dennis Locorriere (of Doctor Hook), Kate Richie and Joe Brown.
In amongst all of this Pete has designed and built many studios around the UK, but he is now back to his first love: producing - at his own studio, The Brown House, in Oxfordshire.
